Frequently Asked Questions
-
OddCube is a modular air purification platform built from eight interchangeable triangular modules. The initial release uses high-performance PC fans and standard furnace filters to create a customizable, repairable, and upgradeable air purifier that can be assembled in a variety of configurations.
-
The Complete OddCube Kit is delivered as a kit requiring final assembly by the user. Assembly instructions will be provided.
The Printed Parts Kit and 3D Printing Package require progressively greater levels of sourcing, assembly, and technical involvement.
-
The initial design is optimized around commonly available MERV13 10"x10"x1" U.S. furnace filters with an actual size of 9.75"x9.75"x.75" or less. Alternative filter options are being explored, including solutions intended to improve international accessibility.
-
Most assembly can be completed without tools. OddCube is designed around a modular O-ring retention system rather than traditional fasteners.
Installation of the O-rings requires a moderate amount of hand strength and dexterity. Some users may find it helpful to use a simple hand tool, such as a small screwdriver, to assist with O-ring installation.
Assembly instructions will be provided, and users should determine whether they are comfortable completing assembly themselves or would prefer assistance.
-
One of the primary goals of the OddCube architecture is modularity.
Future control triangles, accessories, mounting systems, filter solutions, and other enhancements may be developed over time without requiring owners to replace their entire system.
-
No.
Because OddCube is modular, future control triangles can be developed as standalone upgrades.
If future control triangle development is successful, Kickstarter backers will receive priority access and/or discounted upgrade pricing.
-
The first-generation OddCube is being offered as a kit platform rather than a finished consumer appliance.
Users are responsible for assembling and operating their units in accordance with the provided instructions.
Any future certifications or compliance programs will be announced separately if pursued.
